Fourteen Korean and Japanese students study AI and 5G in China through Huawei program

Fourteen university students from South Korea and Japan traveled to China to study artificial intelligence, 5G, digital power and cloud technologies through Huawei’s Seeds for the Future 2026 program.

The program ran from Aug. 23 to 30 in Dongguan and Shenzhen. South Korea sent nine students from Ajou University, Hanyang University and Yonsei University. Five students from the University of Tokyo, Waseda University and Keio University joined from Japan.

The participants visited Huawei research and development facilities, technology exhibition spaces and local high-tech companies. They also formed mixed Korean-Japanese teams to discuss global technology issues and joined exchange activities with Chinese university students.

The program was designed to go beyond classroom lectures. Students worked together on technology discussions and saw industrial sites directly, giving them experience in fast-changing fields such as AI and 5G outside their university courses.

Ajou University student Kim Jong-hoon said he learned why 5G technology will be important in the future and what role Huawei plays in the field. Yonsei University student Jeon Hyun-ji said the experience showed her that people can hold different views about the same technology.

Huawei began Seeds for the Future in Thailand in 2008. The company says more than 19,800 people from 143 countries and regions have participated. Huawei Korea says about 7,000 people have taken part in its domestic industry-academic programs, including its ICT Academy, ICT competitions and Seeds for the Future.
