Fourth suspect detained over armed attack and ring burning at Hermosillo’s CUM

Authorities in Sonora have detained a fourth alleged participant in the attack at Hermosillo’s Center for Multiple Uses, where a boxing ring prepared for the “Noche Suprema” show was set on fire.

The Sonora state prosecutor’s office said the incident took place on the night of Aug. 28. According to the report, people identified as members of a criminal group entered the CUM and burned the ring where the event featuring influencers and boxers was scheduled to take place.

The fourth detainee has been placed at the disposal of the public prosecutor. The prosecutor will later present the person before a control judge, the authorities said.

Three people detained earlier in connection with the same incident are also expected to appear before the relevant judge. An initial hearing will address the charges and determine their legal status.

The prosecutor’s office said it would provide detailed information about the suspects and the allegations once the charges are formally presented, while respecting due process and the presumption of innocence.
