Foxtrot network figure sentenced to life in prison in Baghdad

A man identified as a leading figure within the notorious Foxtrot criminal network has been sentenced to life in prison by a court in Baghdad, Iraq. Swedish media reports suggest the individual is Ali Shehab, who is accused of significant involvement in drug trafficking and orchestrating violent crimes.

The Karkh Criminal Court in Baghdad issued a press release stating the convicted man is a "member of the 'Foxtrot' gang specializing in the possession and smuggling of narcotics." His conviction stems from his role in drug-related activities. Shehab, 21, was apprehended last December in a joint operation by the security forces of Iraqi Kurdistan and the Iraqi intelligence service.

Sweden has faced difficulties in securing Shehab's extradition due to his dual citizenship, holding both Swedish and Iraqi nationality. He is suspected of numerous serious offenses in Sweden, including inciting multiple murders, attempted murders, and conspiracy to commit murder. Notably, Ali Shehab is believed to be a close associate of Rawa Majid, the alleged leader of the Foxtrot network.

Among the alleged crimes Shehab is suspected of ordering in Sweden is a shooting incident in Gävle last October, where nine shots were fired in a public area. A 13-year-old boy was arrested shortly after this incident and is now facing charges for 29 counts of attempted murder.
