FPT University Engages Parents and Students on Career Paths and Future Professions

FPT University transformed its admissions event into an experiential journey rather than a traditional recruitment fair. Before the main seminar, parents and students explored classrooms, labs, and studios, engaging in one-on-one discussions with lecturers to address their questions about academic programs and the learning environment.

A key session involved a dialogue between parents and the university, tackling concerns about the On-the-Job Training (OJT) program. Addressing the worry that OJT might be merely symbolic, Mr. Lê Bình Trung, Deputy Director of FPT University's Ho Chi Minh City campus, clarified that OJT is not just an internship but a structured process where students actively work within partner companies. He noted that the university collaborates with over 500 partners and manages OJT in multiple phases to ensure quality, emphasizing that it has been a core value for nearly 20 years.

In the context of AI's rise, parents inquired about the future of software engineers. Mr. Lâm Hữu Khánh Phương, a lecturer in Software Engineering, explained that the role extends beyond coding to encompass requirements gathering, product development, testing, deployment, and maintenance. While AI can automate repetitive tasks, he asserted that software engineering remains crucial and is a foundational program at the university.

Dr. Nguyễn Hoàng Dũng, Head of the Department of Logistics and Global Supply Chain Management, emphasized the unique aspect of FPT University's logistics program: its curriculum is developed in consultation with industry experts. Students are immersed in practical site visits and real-world projects, gaining experience equivalent to 1-2 years of work before graduation.

Furthermore, Ms. Phan Thùy Thiên Hương, Head of the English Department, shared the university's educational philosophy: to foster students who can surpass their instructors' limitations. "At FPTU, lecturers are not the 'ceiling' for students. If we were the ceiling, the next generation could not progress," she stated. Beyond academic programs, parents also discussed tuition fees, scholarships, and international study opportunities.
