France Investigates Potential Attack Plot After Weapons Found Near Paris

France is investigating a potential attack plot after a car loaded with weapons was discovered parked in Sarcelles, a suburb of Paris known for its large Jewish population. The discovery has prompted a security alert and a formal investigation by France's specialized anti-terrorism prosecutor's office.

According to Interior Minister Laurent Nunez, approximately 300 people were evacuated Saturday evening following the report of a suspicious vehicle. Inside the car, authorities found a weapon described as being of "military standard." The prosecutor's office has initiated an investigation into charges of forming a criminal terrorist organization with the intent to prepare crimes, including attacks on individuals. The probe also covers the transport, possession, and acquisition of weapons in connection with terrorist activities.

Minister Nunez stated that the vehicle was found near one of the town's synagogues. He emphasized that the motives behind the discovery are not yet known, and the individuals responsible have not been identified. The investigation is ongoing as authorities work to determine the full scope of the threat.
