France-Taiwan cooperation potential is boundless, says Foreign Minister Lin

Taiwan's Foreign Minister Lin Chia-lung hosted a delegation from the French National Assembly, underscoring the growing ties between the two nations. Lin noted the increasing frequency of French visitors, citing recent meetings with French Senate First Vice President Didier Mandelli and the presentation of the "Mey-Yi Diplomatic Medal" to National Assembly Friend-Taiwan Group Chair Marie-Noëlle Battistel.

During the meeting, Lin expressed gratitude for the visiting lawmakers' consistent support for Taiwan. He highlighted the expanding business, investment, and trade between Taiwan and France, as well as closer technological collaboration. Lin believes France is an ideal international partner for Taiwan's "five major trusted industries" initiative, particularly in leveraging Taiwan's AI industry chain to aid Europe's "re-armament" and "re-industrialization" goals.

The French delegates also saw significant potential in bilateral industrial cooperation. Estelle Youssouffa, representing Mayotte in the Indian Ocean, suggested it as a gateway for Taiwanese investment into the African market, offering the benefits of EU regulations. Thomas Gassilloud emphasized that strengthening economic ties with France would connect Taiwan to both the 400 million-strong European market and the global network of 400 million French speakers.
