Franco Colapinto Finishes 15th at Austrian Grand Prix

Argentine driver Franco Colapinto finished the 2026 Austrian Grand Prix in 15th place. The race, held at the Spielberg circuit, marked the tenth event of the Formula 1 season. Colapinto, driving for Alpine, started the race in 16th position. His weekend had shown promise during Friday's practice sessions, where he achieved an 8th place finish in the first session, but his performance declined thereafter. His teammate, Pierre Gasly, finished 11th. The Grand Prix victory went to George Russell of Mercedes, marking his first win since the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, excluding sprint races. Mercedes teammate Kimi Antonelli secured third place on the podium, while Red Bull's Max Verstappen took second after a strong challenge throughout the race. Russell maintained control from start to finish, fending off Verstappen's advances. Antonelli, the championship leader, closed in on Verstappen on the final lap but ultimately finished third. Lewis Hamilton and Ferrari had a less successful outing, with Hamilton finishing fifth and Charles Leclerc in eighth, failing to capitalize on their previous win in Barcelona. Despite not scoring points in Austria, Antonelli continues to lead the championship standings with 156 points. Hamilton is second with 115 points, and Russell has accumulated 16 points. Gasly is eighth overall with 41 points. The 2026 Formula 1 season will continue the following weekend with the British Grand Prix at Silverstone, scheduled from July 3rd to 5th, where Franco Colapinto will also compete.
