Free Food Distribution Begins in Florida July 20

Floridians in need of food assistance will have increased access to free groceries starting July 20. Several non-profit organizations are organizing distribution events across the state, offering fresh produce and other essential food items. These initiatives are a collaboration between community networks, food banks, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Distribution points are set up in accessible locations such as churches, schools, and community centers. All Faiths Food Bank, for instance, will be distributing food in Sarasota and DeSoto counties, offering both pantry-style service and drive-thru options. Other participating organizations include Farm Share and Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, which maintain specific distribution schedules throughout the state.

Scheduled events for July 20 include distributions at Church of the Palms and GraceLife Food Pantry in Sarasota, and the DeSoto Food & Resource Center in Arcadia. Further distributions are planned for July 21 and 22 at various locations, including Mount Calvary First Baptist Church in Sarasota, Gulf Gate Elementary School, and Olive Branch Community Development Corporation in Orlando. These efforts aim to provide vital support to individuals and families facing food insecurity.
