Free food in Texas during the last week of July: schedule and locations for fresh food bags

Residents in Texas facing food insecurity will have access to free food assistance at 36 distribution points across seven cities during the final week of July. From Monday, July 27, to Friday, July 31, various organizations will provide food pantries, fresh produce, and hot meals to those in need.

In North Texas, the North Texas Food Bank serves 12 counties, distributing nutritious food. In the fiscal year 2025, it provided 116 million meals and over 45 million pounds of fresh produce. The Central Texas Food Bank covers 21 counties through its own programs and a network of nearly 250 partner organizations, offering fresh fruits, vegetables, pantry items, and prepared meals. The South Texas Food Bank also collects and distributes food across Webb, Zapata, Jim Hogg, Val Verde, Maverick, Kinney, Dimmit, and Starr counties.

Austin alone will host 16 sites offering assistance, including breakfasts, lunches, hot meals, and general food distributions. The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) will also provide nutritious meals and snacks through participating childcare centers and after-school programs. The schedule outlines specific locations and times for these services, such as the Trinity Center offering breakfast and hot meals from 9:00 to 9:30 AM, and Caritas of Austin providing distributions and hot meals from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM.

Other distribution points in Austin include the Austin Baptist Chapel, Huston-Tillotson University, and various PARD (Parks and Recreation Department) centers. The APH (Austin Public Health) East Austin Neighborhood Center and Blackland Neighborhood Center, along with the Serafina Pantry at the Ladybird, will offer food distributions throughout the week.
