From grocery store to antique hotel: A couple's dream project near retirement

Despite nearing retirement age, Kaire and Tarvo Ree, the proprietors of Tallinn's well-known Tüdrukute pood, are not slowing down. They are currently undertaking renovations on their Pääsküla grocery store.

Beyond the store, the couple is pursuing a long-held dream: opening an antique hotel situated among the fields of Harjumaa. This unique establishment will be furnished with furniture dating back centuries, meticulously acquired from Western Europe. The Reeses aspire to offer Estonians a taste of beauty and luxury, embodying the sentiment, "why shouldn't Estonians also afford something beautiful?"

This new venture follows Tarvo Ree's successful transformation of an old grain dryer into an event venue in the Pikva area a decade ago. The existing venue boasts features like stone walls with heating, paintings, chandeliers, and fully stocked buffets, demonstrating the couple's commitment to creating distinctive and well-appointed spaces.
