From Home Depot to Aldi: What Opens and Closes in Texas on Labor Day

Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 7, will change the schedules of stores, government offices, banks, postal services and transport-related businesses across Texas.

Most supermarkets and major retailers plan to stay open, including Lowe's, Best Buy, Kohl's, Belk and Big Lots. Many major restaurant chains will also operate. Costco is a major exception and will close all of its locations for the holiday.

USPS offices will close, with no regular mail or package delivery. Normal service will resume Tuesday, Sept. 8. UPS Store locations will also suspend their usual pickup and delivery services.

FedEx will close standard domestic and international package operations, as well as FedEx Logistics. FedEx Custom Critical will continue operating, while some offices may keep modified hours. Most banks will close, including Federal Reserve Bank offices in Dallas, El Paso, Houston and San Antonio. ATMs and digital banking will remain available.

Federal, state and municipal offices will also close, including Social Security Administration offices. In Dallas, the City Hall, certain municipal offices, Municipal Court and public library branches will be closed. Arlington will close its City Hall, Municipal Court, housing authority and parks and recreation administration offices, although the East Library and Recreation Center will open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Plano and McKinney will also close several municipal, library and community facilities.
