From Nostalgic Hits to Overnight Hip-Hop: 'Taipei Very Live!' Continues to Rock

Taipei is buzzing with live music as the "Taipei Very Live!" event, part of the TMEX Taipei Music Expo, kicks off this weekend. From August 21 to 30, over 30 musical acts will take over various venues across the city, offering a vibrant mix of genres. The event aims to foster exchange within the Asia-Pacific music market through brand exhibitions, international forums, industry matchmaking, and live performances.

Tonight's schedule features a wide array of sounds. The "Super 346 Live House" will host the Hao Ke Band, blending R&B, pop, jazz, and ballads. Meanwhile, "MOONDOG" presents Japanese band Wisteria with their hardcore punk and rock fusion, alongside Hong Kong's "Good Night Lily" offering J-Pop and J-Rock. "Zenith Bistro" features singer Xu Mingjie, while "Corner Music Restaurant" hosts its resident band for nostalgic hits. "Oldie Goodie Live Bar" will showcase classic pop and rock, and "SMEXY Music Restaurant" presents Shining HYT Young Star.

The festivities extend into the late hours with a "Multiverse Party" at "PIPE Live Music," running from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. This overnight hip-hop event includes performances by Multiverse, Vews, DJ Lazyfinga, DJ TOFU, and DJ N.OERS. Special guest Raco G, a veteran of the Taipei hip-hop scene, will make his official return after releasing a new album in May.

Weekend highlights include the "IDOL GALAXY Taiwan Idol Showcase" at "Jack Music" on Saturday morning, featuring 11 artists. "COMING Performance Space" will host singers Yang Zifeng, CJ, and Xu Ge with a pianist. "Existence Music Xinyi Store" offers a guitar performance by An Xiaobo and Shen Yulin. "MAJI Triangle" will feature performances by Li Hong, Chen Chen, Ao Wu, Bai An, Jun, and DJ Xiao Ting on Sunday evening.

Other venues like "PIPE Live Music" will host a "Horizontal Walk" party with bands "Fat Tiger," "Shredded Paper Flower," and "Fierce Eagle." "Lucky Cypher" combines metal bands, modern dance, and a craft market. "EZ5 Live House" presents a "Hip-Hop Original Night" with Mr. Rabbit and Gottiboy. "Oldie Goodie Live Bar" will feature The Rubber Band playing pop, funk, R&B, and rock, while "Boogie Bistro" closes out the night with pop, electronic, and dance music.
