From Sasha Sokol’s accusation to his arrest: The key stages in the Luis de Llano case

Luis de Llano’s legal dispute with Sasha Sokol took a new turn when the producer was detained in Mexico City for contempt, according to information confirmed by El Universal. The arrest reportedly took place at around 6:13 p.m. and followed an order issued by a judge of the Superior Court of Justice.

The detention came more than a year after Mexico’s Supreme Court upheld a civil judgment against De Llano for moral damages involving Sokol. The measures included a public apology and payment of compensation. The producer had refused to comply with those requirements, according to the report.

The case began in 2022, when Sokol publicly accused De Llano of abuse. She challenged his statements describing their relationship as romantic, given that she was 14 and he was 39 at the time. Sokol said the experience was marked by an abuse of power. In July 2022, she filed a civil lawsuit seeking recognition of the harm caused by the relationship and by De Llano’s later comments. The case did not seek a criminal conviction.

A Mexico City judge ruled for Sokol in May 2023 and ordered compensation and a public apology. After De Llano appealed, the Superior Court’s Seventh Civil Chamber upheld the ruling in September of that year and added requirements, including a sensitivity course and an order barring him from publicly referring to Sokol. De Llano then took the case to the Supreme Court through an amparo challenge, arguing in part that the claims had expired because the events occurred decades earlier.

On June 25, 2025, the Supreme Court’s First Chamber unanimously rejected the challenge and left the civil judgment in force. The ruling also established that civil claims for damages linked to childhood sexual offenses were not subject to a statute of limitations. Sokol later said De Llano had still not issued the apology or paid the compensation, which she planned to donate to an organization. The report also says De Llano spoke publicly again in August.
