From Saturday through Wednesday, thunderstorms and flash floods expected in several areas

Saudi Arabia’s Civil Defense has urged residents to exercise caution as thunderstorms and rain are expected across several parts of the kingdom from Saturday through next Wednesday, based on reports from the National Center for Meteorology.

The Makkah region is expected to receive moderate to heavy rain that could produce flash floods, hail and strong downdrafts carrying dust and sand. The warning covers Taif, Maysan, Adham and Al-Ardiyat, while Turbah, Al-Muwaih, Al-Khurmah and Ranyah are expected to receive light to moderate rain.

Riyadh region may see light to moderate rain, possible flash floods, hail and dust-producing downdrafts in Wadi Al-Dawasir and Al-Sulayyil. Jazan, Asir and Al-Baha are forecast to receive moderate to heavy rain, with flash floods, hail and dust-raising winds.

Light to moderate rain is also expected in the Eastern Province and Najran. Civil Defense advised people to remain in safe places, keep away from valleys and areas where floodwater gathers, and avoid swimming in them. It also urged residents to follow warnings and instructions issued through official media and social media platforms.
