President-elect Keiko Fujimori visited a Lima neighborhood devastated by a fire that killed 10 people, including children. She spoke to reporters in the La Victoria district, where the blaze was allegedly started by extortionists.

Fujimori announced that her first presidential trip, after her inauguration next Tuesday, will be to Chupaca in the Junín region. This area was struck by a 5.1 magnitude earthquake on Friday, which resulted in five fatalities and numerous injuries. She vowed to visit all those affected by the quake.

She also confirmed that her first cabinet meeting will be on Wednesday, July 29, the day after her inauguration. During this meeting, decrees will be considered to begin restoring order immediately.
