Fukuoka LDP chief announces resignation as party probes alleged payments

Kunihiro Matsumoto, chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Fukuoka chapter, has announced his resignation amid allegations of payments linked to the prefectural assembly’s speaker and deputy speaker posts.

Matsumoto also indicated that the chapter would investigate its lawmakers to clarify what happened. NHK’s description said the inquiry would examine the allegations involving money transfers.
