FULL LIST: Countries eliminated from World Cup after group stage

The group stage of the 2026 FIFA World Cup has wrapped up, marking the exit of 16 nations from the 48-team tournament. Among the notable eliminations are Tunisia, Uruguay, Türkiye, Korea Republic, and Scotland. Tournament debutants Uzbekistan and Curaçao also bowed out despite commendable efforts.

Africa showcased a strong performance, with nine of its ten participating teams successfully advancing to the knockout stage. Tunisia was the only African nation not to progress, finishing at the bottom of Group F without any points.

Several teams exited the competition despite putting up encouraging performances. Scotland, for instance, finished third in Group C but narrowly missed a spot among the best third-placed teams. Similarly, IR Iran remained undefeated with three draws but still failed to qualify for the next round. Uruguay, a semi-finalist in previous editions, faced a surprising early exit after securing third place in Group H with just two points. Korea Republic also fell short, finishing third in Group A behind Mexico and South Africa.

The Round of 32 is set to commence on Sunday, with the remaining 32 teams vying for advancement in the expanded FIFA World Cup.
