Kylian Mbappé has set a new record as the FIFA World Cup's all-time leading goalscorer, concluding the 2026 tournament with a total of 22 goals. This achievement places the French forward at the pinnacle of World Cup scoring history.

Mbappé surpassed Argentina's captain, Lionel Messi, who retired from World Cup play with 21 goals. Messi accumulated his tally over a record 34 matches spanning six tournaments. Mbappé, in contrast, reached his milestone in just 22 appearances.

Former Germany striker Miroslav Klose, who previously held the record, now ranks third with 16 goals. Brazil legend Ronaldo is fourth with 15 goals in 19 appearances. Germany's Gerd Müller and England captain Harry Kane are tied for fifth place with 14 goals each, with Müller achieving his in 13 matches and Kane in 18.

Other notable scorers on the all-time list include France's Just Fontaine, who astonishingly scored 13 goals in only six matches in 1958. Brazil icon Pelé is eighth with 12 goals in 14 appearances. Germany's Jurgen Klinsmann, Hungary's Sandor Kocsis, and Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo are tied with 11 goals, each with varying numbers of appearances.
