Funvisis Confirms Magnitude 3.3 Quake West of La Guaira

A seismic event struck Venezuela on Sunday morning, with the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis) confirming a magnitude 3.3 earthquake. The epicenter was located 27 kilometers west of the coastal state of La Guaira. The tremor occurred at 10:18 a.m. and had a shallow depth of just 1.7 kilometers, making it noticeable to residents.

Users on social media platforms reported feeling the earthquake, with tremors perceived in various parts of La Guaira, as well as in the capital city Caracas and the state of Miranda. This recent seismic activity adds to a period of heightened earth tremors in the region.

The earthquake occurred in the aftermath of a significant seismic event that impacted Venezuela. Government reports from July 24 indicated that over 1,500 aftershocks had been recorded since the initial double earthquake on June 24. These devastating quakes resulted in a tragic death toll exceeding 5,546, with 16,740 injured and 20,000 people displaced. Efforts continue to provide aid and support to the affected population, with over 128,000 families receiving assistance and thousands still residing in temporary camps.
