Future Schools Project Broadens Horizons in Croatian Education

The 'Future Schools' project is making significant strides in revolutionizing education across Croatia, extending its reach and impact into the 2025/2026 season. As reported by Večernji List, this national educational initiative transcends mere technological training, aiming to equip students with essential life skills and a deeper understanding of society, preparing them for the complexities of the future.

This season sees an enhanced focus on flexibility and accessibility, offering a diverse curriculum that spans cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence and robotics, alongside crucial social competencies such as critical thinking, media literacy, and mental health awareness. The integration of content developed with the Croatian Insurance Bureau marks a notable addition, providing students with practical knowledge about life insurance, property protection, and risk management—skills vital for navigating adult life responsibly. The project's commitment to fostering global awareness is evident in its expanding collaboration with schools in Brazil, enabling students to exchange experiences and learn from diverse cultural perspectives.

Stemi made a big step last year by opening cooperation with schools in Brazil, and we are especially pleased that this season we are connecting schools from Croatia and Brazil. This allows students not only to acquire new knowledge and skills but also to get to know each other's cultures, exchange experiences, and learn through real international cooperation.

With a proven track record of engaging over 15,000 students and 450 schools, 'Future Schools' demonstrates its substantial national reach and tangible impact. Special project challenges, like the Samsung challenge focusing on UN Sustainable Development Goals and the Dobro:bit challenge addressing psychophysical health, further enrich the learning experience. Partnerships with major companies like A1 Hrvatska underscore the project's importance in promoting digital literacy and online safety. The initiative culminates in the Innovation Day 2026 conference, celebrating the innovative spirit and achievements of its young participants and educators, solidifying its role as a cornerstone of modern Croatian education.

That is precisely why, together with the educators of Future Schools, we are preparing materials from the #BoljiOnline handbook for the Stemi LAB platform on the topic of internet safety. We believe that a better understanding of this topic is the right way to build the society of the future, a society in which young people develop not only digital skills but also knowledge, self-confidence, and responsibility for safely navigating the online world.
