Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe Learn Potential Rivals in Champions League Draw

Turkish football giants Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe are set to discover their potential opponents in the upcoming UEFA Champions League league stage. Galatasaray earned their spot directly as the 2025-26 Süper Lig champions, while Fenerbahçe secured their qualification by overcoming Lyon with a 2-1 victory in the second leg of their playoff match.

The draw for the expanded 36-team league phase of the 2026-27 Champions League is scheduled for Thursday evening, August 27, at 19:00 Turkish time. The event will be broadcast live on UEFA TV and TRT Spor, allowing fans to follow the proceedings closely.

Under the new format, all 36 participating teams will be drawn into pots, with each team facing two opponents from each of the four pots. Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe will play four home and four away matches during the league stage. The top eight teams in the league standings will advance directly to the Round of 16, while teams finishing between 9th and 24th place will compete in a playoff round for a spot in the knockout stage.

Pot 1 includes top clubs like PSG, Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Liverpool, Inter, Manchester City, Arsenal, Barcelona, and Atletico Madrid. Pot 3 includes clubs like Feyenoord, Napoli, RB Leipzig, Shakhtar Donetsk, and the two Turkish representatives themselves, Galatasaray and Fenerbahçe.
