Galatasaray President awaits Icardi's decision on contract offer

Galatasaray President Dursun Özbek has confirmed the club has formally offered a contract extension to star striker Mauro Icardi. Speaking to Sabah newspaper, Özbek emphasized Icardi's crucial role in the team's recent successes, including league championships, stating the player has "given great service to Galatasaray."

Özbek noted that Icardi has experienced the "love and respect" he deserves at Galatasaray, a sentiment the player reciprocates. "He knows this and loves Galatasaray very much," Özbek said. The president revealed he met with Icardi and his agent to present the club's offer, outlining that Galatasaray prioritizes performance and ethical values when building a competitive team, incorporating the technical staff's input.

"We made an offer, taking these into consideration, as well as the technical team's opinion. We are waiting for their decision," Özbek stated. Last season, Icardi played 47 matches for Galatasaray, scoring 16 goals and providing 3 assists. The club now awaits the player's response to their proposal.
