Gaza health officials say Israeli airstrike on police station kills 8

An Israeli airstrike on a police station in northern Gaza killed eight people on Tuesday, including a woman officer and the police station chief, according to Gaza's civil defense agency and Al-Shifa hospital. The agency, which operates as a rescue force under Hamas, stated that eight bodies were transferred to the hospital following the strike in the western part of the Jabalia refugee camp.

Hamas, the Palestinian Islamist movement that controls Gaza's police force, condemned the airstrike. The Israeli military confirmed it killed four Hamas militants during the operation. In a statement, the military said the targeted individuals had been "gathered with the goal of planning and carrying out terror attacks" and were eliminated to "remove the threat."

The military did not provide details regarding the remaining four individuals killed in the strike. Violence has persisted in Gaza despite a ceasefire. According to the territory's health ministry, which operates under Hamas authority and whose figures are considered reliable by the United Nations, at least 1,110 Palestinians have been killed since the truce took effect.

The Israeli military reported losing five soldiers and one civilian contractor in Gaza during the same period.
