GCC Countries Provided $6.1 Billion in Relief Aid in 2025, Report Says

The six Gulf Cooperation Council countries provided $6.1 billion in relief aid in 2025, according to a report issued by the GCC Statistical Center for World Humanitarian Day. The figure represented about 21.7 percent of the world’s total relief assistance.

The report presented the aid as extending beyond emergency responses. Gulf assistance also supported the recovery of affected communities, stability and sustainable development, while addressing food, healthcare and protection needs.

This indicator reflects the growing Gulf role in the humanitarian and relief work system at the international level.

Basic services received 77.8 percent of the total aid. Health accounted for the largest share at 33.4 percent, followed by early recovery at 23.2 percent, food security at 15.3 percent and education at 7 percent. Other sectors made up 22.1 percent and included services, water, governance, the environment and the reintegration of displaced people.

The center said the figures reflected a broad Gulf role in humanitarian work, combining urgent relief with recovery, capacity building and basic services. It also said GCC development policies and rapid crisis responses had helped establish the group among the world’s largest donors of official and voluntary humanitarian aid.

The GCC Statistical Center, established in 2011 and based in Oman, serves as the approved source for data and statistics related to the six member countries.
