GCC Secretary-General and ILO Director-General Discuss Cooperation Relations

The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, held a meeting with Gilbert F. Houngbo, the Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO), in Geneva. The discussion centered on enhancing cooperation between the two organizations.

Albudaiwi commended the ILO's efforts in promoting social justice and safeguarding workers' rights. He emphasized that GCC member states have implemented numerous regulations and legislation to uphold these rights, aligning with international standards. This acknowledgment underscores the GCC's commitment to worker welfare within its jurisdiction.

In return, Houngbo expressed gratitude for the significant support the GCC provides to the ILO's initiatives. He recognized the substantial steps taken by GCC countries in this area, signaling a positive and collaborative relationship.

Both sides explored proposals aimed at unifying their efforts to achieve their shared objectives in promoting decent work and social justice.
