Gemke cruises past Belgian to advance at World Championships

Rasmus Gemke dominated Belgian opponent Julien Carraggi, securing a swift 21-11, 21-10 victory to progress in the World Badminton Championships held in New Delhi.

The 29-year-old Dane, currently ranked 26th globally, showcased superior skill across all aspects of the game. He established a commanding lead early in the first set and never looked back, leaving the world No. 48 Carraggi visibly disheartened.

Gemke's next challenge will be a tougher match against the 12th-seeded Lin Chun-yi from Taiwan. Meanwhile, Denmark's mixed doubles pair, Kristoffer Kolding and Mette Werge, also advanced to the second round after a 21-19, 21-16 win over a Swedish team. They are set to face the fifth-seeded French duo Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue.

Additionally, Denmark's top-ranked men's doubles pair, Daniel Lundgaard and Mads Vestergaard, are scheduled to play their opening match later today. As the 13th seeds, they received a bye in the first round and will compete against a Brazilian pair in their first outing at the championships.
