Geneva justice confirms sanctions against Pierre Maudet's association for pseudonymous donations

Geneva's justice system has upheld sanctions against the political support association of state councilor Pierre Maudet, confirming penalties for accepting donations under pseudonyms. The ruling by the administrative chamber of the Court of Justice, dated June 30, rejected the association's appeal.

Judges determined that the association, in its handling of four donors, "at least failed in its duties through negligence." This failure stemmed from not adequately verifying the identities of these donors during the 2023 campaign for the State Council. The association was initially fined 2,000 francs and ordered to return 10,000 francs in electoral cost contributions, along with over 24,000 francs related to the case.

This decision follows revelations by Léman Bleu regarding the case of fictitious donors. The association is now required to restitute several thousand francs. Appeals to the Federal Tribunal are anticipated, indicating that the legal challenges surrounding these donations are likely to continue.
