Geneva Tram Network Restored Monday After Summer Construction

The public transport network in Geneva, Switzerland, is set to return to normal operations on Monday, following the completion of extensive summer infrastructure renewal works. The Transports Publics Genevois (tpg) announced that tram lines 12, 14, 17, and 18 will resume their full service, reinstating their original routes and serving all designated stops.

This return to normal service is strategically timed to coincide with the beginning of the school year, aiming to provide reliable transportation for students and commuters. The renewal projects, which began in late June, were undertaken to guarantee the safe and dependable operation of the tram system. Key upgrades included the replacement of tracks in various city locations, renewal of track infrastructure in Carouge, and the installation of new switching points.

In addition to track work, the projects involved greening initiatives along the tram site on Rue de Carouge and the creation of a new turnaround diagonal in Lancy. Preparatory work for future developments was also carried out in Onex. Several other adjustments to the network are scheduled to take effect on Monday alongside the full service restoration.
