Gerindra Party slams lawyer Hotman Paris for implicating President Prabowo in legal case

The Gerindra Party has sharply criticized lawyer Hotman Paris Hutapea for allegedly dragging President Prabowo Subianto into a legal case involving former Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Febrie Adriansyah. Bambang Haryadi, Chairman of the Gerindra Party's Central Executive Board (DPP), expressed regret over Hotman Paris's statement, asserting that the President has never intervened in legal processes. "Gerindra regrets Hotman Paris's statement linking the former Jampidsus case with President Prabowo. This is completely untrue and contradicts President Prabowo's commitment to eradicating corruption," Bambang stated. Bambang, who also serves as the Secretary of the Gerindra Party faction in the House of Representatives, emphasized that Prabowo consistently upholds the law without favoritism, even towards party members. He urged Hotman Paris not to use the President's name in his defense of his client. "Prabowo always reminds us in all party activities that he will not protect any cadre who commits disgraceful acts or corruption. This is proven by the fact that several regional heads affiliated with Gerindra who violated the law have still been processed legally," he added. Hotman Paris had previously described the case against Febrie Adriansyah as criminalization, expressing dismay over the situation. He highlighted Febrie's achievements as Jampidsus, noting that he was a source of pride for President Prabowo due to his success in recovering state assets totaling trillions of rupiah. "The Jampidsus is someone President Prabowo is proud of. He recovered Rp 130 trillion in state losses, plus Rp 300 trillion from the PKH Task Force. A total of Rp 430 trillion returned to the state. Imagine, someone who is the President's pride is suddenly criminalized without informing the President," Hotman had said.
