Germán Berterame expresses surprise at World Cup 2026 omission

Germán Berterame, the Argentine-born forward now playing for Inter Miami, has voiced his surprise and disappointment at being left off Mexico's final squad for the 2026 World Cup. He was initially considered by coach Javier Aguirre, who had included him on a preliminary list.

However, Berterame did not make the final selection, with Aguirre opting for Raúl Jiménez, Santiago Giménez, Armando González, and Guillermo Martínez to bolster the team's attack. The collision forced him off the field in an ambulance and led to a brief hospital stay. The injury caused him to miss nearly a month of play, but he is now nearing his return to the pitch.
