German Cup: Bayern Munich come from behind after Osnabrück wonder goal

Robin Meißner needed less than five minutes to make the packed Bremer Brücke erupt. The Osnabrück forward struck from 30 meters, sending an unstoppable shot past Bayern goalkeeper Jonas Urbig and giving the second-division side a stunning lead.

Bayern had fielded a strong starting lineup despite its clear status as favorite. Harry Kane, Joshua Kimmich, Luis Díaz and Michael Olise all started, but the first major moment belonged to Osnabrück. Bayern’s defense looked badly exposed as Meißner’s shot flew into the net.

The visitors responded with ruthless efficiency. Kane exploited a defensive error to equalize in the 18th minute, and Tom Bischof put Bayern ahead six minutes later. The goals restored the expected balance in the first-round tie, but Osnabrück did not collapse.

With Germany’s defense minister and VfL supporter Boris Pistorius watching, the home side continued to fight against Bayern’s superiority and kept the game open until halftime. Olise added Bayern’s third goal in the 73rd minute, and Kane converted a foul penalty four minutes from time to complete the 4-1 victory.
