German divers win gold and silver at European Championships

German divers Lou Massenberg and Jonathan Schauer achieved a surprising victory, clinching the gold medal in the 3-meter synchronized springboard event at the European Championships in Paris. The duo from Halle/Saale delivered a strong performance, scoring 423.84 points to beat Evgeni Kuznetsov and Nikita Shleikher of the Neutral Athletes team, who scored 408.99.

Adding to Germany's success, Pauline Pfeif, the World Championship runner-up, earned a silver medal in the women's 10-meter platform competition. The 24-year-old athlete scored 305.30 points for her five dives, finishing just 0.15 points behind winner Maise Bond of Great Britain. Else Praasterink of the Netherlands took bronze.

Massenberg and Schauer's performance was marked by consistency, remaining flawless from the first to the sixth dive. Their exceptional final dive, with a difficulty degree of 3.8, led to jubilant celebrations with their team.

This gold medal is the second for the German team at the championships, following Moritz Wesemann's victory on the 1-meter springboard. Last year, the German team also secured gold in this discipline with the duo Wesemann/Timo Barthel.
