German fuel prices ease slightly, but remain high

Drivers in Germany are experiencing a slight reprieve as fuel prices have recently dipped. On Tuesday, the national average price for a liter of Super E10 gasoline fell by 1.8 cents to 2.139 euros. Diesel prices also saw a decrease, dropping by 2 cents to 2.19 euros per liter, according to data from the ADAC.

The decline in fuel costs is likely influenced by a drop in crude oil prices, which were notably lower at the end of last week compared to current levels. However, crude oil prices have begun to rise again, leading to a mixed picture for fuel costs on Wednesday morning. While Super E10 was marginally cheaper at 11:00 AM compared to the previous day, diesel saw a slight increase.

Despite the recent decrease, the ADAC maintains that current fuel prices remain "significantly too high." The auto club points out that Super E10 is currently about 36 cents more expensive per liter than it was on the last day before the Iran war began. Diesel prices are even higher, costing over 44 cents more than in the pre-war period.
