Germany poised to identify suspect in Leipzig drone attack on Ukrainian plane

Germany is preparing to name the person or group it believes was behind a suspected drone attack on a Ukrainian cargo plane in Leipzig.

The government is also expected to set out its response this month in coordination with European and Nato partners. The incident has been widely speculated to have been coordinated by Russia.

Chancellor Friedrich Merz said in a Sunday evening interview with broadcaster ARD that investigators were close to completing their work. He said the federal government had reached broad agreement on how to respond and would make its position clear in the coming days.
