Germany Wins Fourth Men’s Hockey World Cup, Beating Spain 1-0 in Final

Germany made history in Wavre by becoming the first team to win back-to-back FIH Men’s Hockey World Cup titles. A 1-0 victory over Spain at the Belfius Hockey Arena also gave Germany its fourth championship.

Michael Struthoff scored the decisive goal in the third quarter, converting one of Germany’s few clear opportunities in a final largely controlled by Spain. Spain held possession and created chances for long periods, but Germany’s defense remained firm.

Spain tried to force an equalizer by withdrawing its goalkeeper late in the match. Germany held on to secure the title, matching Pakistan’s record of four World Cup victories. The result marked Spain’s first appearance in a men’s Hockey World Cup final.

Argentina won the bronze medal after defeating the Netherlands 2-1 in the third-place match. The result followed Argentina’s women’s team winning the women’s World Cup less than 24 hours earlier, beating the Netherlands in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw.
