The Blaarmeersen recreational park in Ghent has reached full capacity for non-residents, with all 1,500 available tickets reserved before 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 22, 2026. The surge in visitors is attributed to the exceptionally good weather, drawing crowds seeking to cool off and enjoy the facilities.

Arno Morsa from Farys, the operator of the facility, stated, "We are calling on non-Ghent residents not to come here without a ticket." While Ghent residents, for whom the area is free, remain welcome, Morsa advised others to seek alternative locations. "We cannot allow more people, otherwise it will become too crowded on the grounds. It must remain enjoyable and relaxing for everyone," he added.
