Gilberto Mora becomes Mexico's most valuable player; value grows after 2026 World Cup

Mexican midfielder Gilberto Mora has become the most valuable player in the market, with his value skyrocketing to 25 million euros following his performance in the 2026 World Cup. This represents a significant increase from his valuation of 10 million euros prior to the tournament.

Mora, also known as "Morita," made history by becoming the sixth youngest player to ever debut in the World Cup, entering the competition at just 17 years and 240 days old. He now stands among legendary players like Pelé and Diego Maradona in this regard.

His impressive World Cup campaign has attracted the attention of several European clubs. German football legend Lothar Matthäus noted in his column for BILD that Borussia Dortmund has expressed interest in the young talent, who has already played four matches in the tournament. Mora, who turns 18 in October, recently graduated from high school in Tijuana.

Other Mexican players, Roberto Alvarado and Erik Lira, also saw their market values increase after the World Cup. Alvarado's value rose to 10 million euros from 7.5 million, while Lira's increased from 12 million to 14 million euros. Despite the European interest, Mora continues to play for Xolos de Tijuana in Mexico's Liga MX.
