Gilda Lozoya requests extension in Agronitrogenados fraud case

Gilda Susana Lozoya Austin, sister of former Petróleos Mexicanos director Emilio Lozoya Austin, is facing accusations of money laundering in the Agronitrogenados case. She appeared in court on Friday and requested an extension for the constitutional term to determine if she will be formally linked to the criminal process. Judge Nora Ileana García Peralta accepted Lozoya Austin's request. The Federal Public Prosecutor's Office (FGR) formally accused her of profiting from bribes. Businessman Alonso Ancira Elizondo, former director of Altos Hornos de México, allegedly made five transfers totaling $3.4 million to the company "Tochos Holding Limited," where Lozoya Austin was the beneficiary. Prosecutors highlighted that these funds were subsequently used for two deposits made to María del Carmen Ampudia, facilitating the acquisition of a residence in Lomas de Bezares, Mexico City, which benefited her brother, Emilio Lozoya. The hearing is ongoing, with discussions expected regarding any precautionary measures, which could include justified preventive detention or conditional release.
