Giorgia Meloni celebrates becoming Italy's longest-serving postwar leader as Javier Milei congratulates her

Giorgia Meloni celebrated a record that Italy's postwar governments had not reached: 1,413 days in office. After her administration surpassed the second government led by her political mentor, Silvio Berlusconi, Argentine President Javier Milei congratulated her on X.

At celebrations in Rome, Meloni led a self-congratulatory event centered on freedom, identity, security, national pride and the slogan “Italians first.” She called stability the first “great reform” of her administration and attacked the center-left opposition as a “caviar left” disconnected from ordinary people and facing an identity crisis, without a clear leader or program ahead of next year's elections. Both leaders also expressed a desire to continue working together to strengthen ties between Italy and Argentina.
