Girl dies in four-vehicle crash in West Melbourne

A tragic four-vehicle crash on Dynon Road in West Melbourne has resulted in the death of a young girl this afternoon. The collision occurred just before 4:30 p.m. on the major inner-city arterial route.

Detectives from the Major Collision Investigation Unit have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. Emergency services attended the scene, and multiple individuals were taken to hospital for treatment.

The deceased female child was in one of the vehicles involved. The male driver of that same vehicle and a second child were transported to hospital in critical condition. A woman and another child traveling in the same car suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Injuries were also sustained by occupants of the other vehicles. The male driver of a second vehicle, the driver of a third car, and the driver of a fourth vehicle were all taken to hospital with varying degrees of injury, ranging from non-life-threatening to minor. Police are appealing for witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
