Britain's outgoing Prime Minister Keir Starmer has cautioned his likely successor, Andy Burnham, against solely focusing on domestic issues. In an interview released Saturday, Starmer stressed that international turmoil cannot be disregarded. He argued that a leader must engage with global affairs, stating that domestic concerns like household bills are intrinsically linked to international stability. "If you're prime minister and you care what bills are going to be like in any household around the country, you have to care about finding a lasting solution to the situation in Ukraine; you have to care about what happens in the Strait of Hormuz," Starmer told the BBC. Starmer, who resigned on June 22, will remain in parliament until the next election. Burnham, the former mayor of Manchester, is the sole candidate to lead the Labour Party and could take office by mid-July. His supporters have advocated for a stronger focus on domestic matters, including the cost of living and government decentralization.
