Global electric truck and bus sales nearly doubled in 2025

Worldwide sales of electric trucks and buses saw a near doubling in 2025, with approximately half a million vehicles sold. This represents an 86% increase compared to the previous year, according to a study by the International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT).

The growth was predominantly fueled by sales of electric trucks in China. The European Union also recorded double-digit growth rates, primarily driven by the expansion of its electric bus fleets.

However, challenges persist. Karin Rådström, CEO of Daimler Truck, highlighted infrastructure and charging as the most significant problems hindering the widespread adoption of electric trucks. She noted that even companies willing to transition to electric mobility are uncertain about the feasibility of charging their vehicles along their routes.
