Go Woo-suk saves on return with fastball reaching 154 kph as LG wins fifth straight

Go Woo-suk marked his return to the LG Twins with a save, throwing a scoreless ninth inning in a 4-3 victory over Samsung at Seoul’s Jamsil Baseball Stadium.

The 28-year-old right-hander, back with his former team after playing in Major League Baseball, entered with LG leading 4-3. He walked Lewin Diaz after four straight fastballs missed the zone, then struck out pinch-hitter Yang Woo-hyun on three pitches. After striking out Ryu Ji-hyeok swinging with a cutter, he ended the game when Kang Min-ho lifted a fly ball to second base.

Go’s fastball reached 154 kph. He also threw cutters at 145 to 149 kph and curves at 131 to 133 kph. It was his first save since Sept. 19, 2023, against the KIA Tigers, and the 140th of his career, making him the 14th pitcher in KBO history to reach that mark.

LG trailed 3-0 through the top of the sixth before scoring three times in the bottom half. Song Chan-eui brought in the first run with a single, Moon Bo-kyeong tied the game with a two-run double, and Cheon Seong-ho put LG ahead with a go-ahead single. Carlos Carrasco allowed three runs over six innings, John Kennedy, an Asian-quota player, threw two scoreless innings, and Go closed out the win.

Hanwha defeated Lotte 14-4 with 19 hits, ending its nine-game losing streak. Park Jun-young earned his first professional starting win after allowing three runs over five innings. KIA beat league-leading KT 4-3 in the 10th inning on Byun Woo-hyuk’s first career walk-off sacrifice fly, while NC defeated Kiwoom 6-1 for its sixth straight win. Doosan lost 4-0 to SSG and fell into fourth consecutive defeat.
