Gold Coin Production Figures Clarified: 6 Million Quarter Coins Minted in 6 Months

Turkey's mint produced a significant volume of gold coins in the first half of the year, with a total of 9,829,183 units minted across various denominations. This production utilized approximately 33 tons, 412 kilograms, and 853.3 grams of gold.

The most commonly produced gold coin was the quarter-lira gold coin (çeyrek ziynet altın), with 6,222,610 units minted during this period. This category alone accounted for the largest share of the total gold coin output. Other types of ziynet (ornamental) gold coins produced included half-lira (898,835), full-lira (1,288,413), two-and-a-half lira (44,702), and five-lira coins (310).

In the sikke (coin) category, which includes republic gold coins (cumhuriyet altınları), a total of 1,362,011 coins were minted. The most produced sikke coin was the full-lira denomination, with 1,227,909 units. The production in this category also included quarter-lira (110,670), half-lira (17,582), two-and-a-half lira (600), and five-lira coins (5,250).

Additionally, 12,302 Reşad coins were minted, comprising various denominations like half-lira (1,782), full-lira (5,960), two-and-a-half lira (600), and five-lira coins (3,960). The total weight of the sikke republic gold coins was over 9 tons, while the Reşad coins weighed approximately 203 kilograms.
