Gombe ADC publicity secretary resigns

Abdulrahman Buba Zaune, the Publicity Secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Gombe State, has resigned from his position, effective immediately. His resignation letter, dated August 5, 2026, was formally submitted to the Chairman of the ADC in Zaune Ward, Dukku Local Government Area.

In his letter, Zaune expressed gratitude to the party for the opportunities he had to serve in various capacities at the local government, state, and national levels. "I sincerely appreciate the political party for the opportunity to serve in different capacities at the local government, state and national levels. I therefore wish the party well," the letter stated.

While Zaune did not explicitly state his next political move in his resignation letter, his departure has fueled speculation about a potential defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). This heightened interest is partly due to the timing of his resignation, occurring just 24 hours after the APC governorship candidate in Gombe State, Jamilu Gwamna, visited Dukku Local Government Area, Zaune's home region.

The timing of Zaune's exit is particularly significant as political parties intensify their mobilization efforts ahead of the 2027 governorship election in the state. This development follows closely on the heels of another key departure from the ADC, with the party's State Secretary, Ahmed Gana, having resigned weeks earlier to join the APC in support of Gwamna's gubernatorial ambitions.
