Gorillaz frontman Damon Albarn wears "students win" badge at festival

Damon Albarn, the acclaimed frontman of the virtual band Gorillaz, made a subtle yet significant statement at the Primavera Sound festival in Porto by wearing a "students win" badge.

This slogan is recognized as a rallying cry for a student movement within Serbia. The choice of badge resonated with many fans in Serbia, highlighting a connection between the international music icon and local socio-political expressions.

Albarn's engagement with Serbian culture was further evident during his recent visit to Belgrade. He marked the occasion by getting tattoos of the Serbian words for "left" and "right" on his hands, written in the Cyrillic alphabet. This personal gesture underscores his connection to the region and its cultural nuances.

Albarn, a prominent figure in British music, first gained global recognition in the early 1990s as the leader of Blur, a band that, alongside Oasis, defined the Britpop era. In the late 1990s, he ventured into a more experimental direction by founding Gorillaz, a unique virtual band that has achieved widespread international success.
