Government Confirms August Provisional Bonus, Sets Increase for Retirees and Pensioners

The Argentine government has officially confirmed the disbursement of an extraordinary provisional bonus, set to provide up to $70,000 to low-income retirees and pensioners in August 2026. This supportive measure was formalized through Decree 686/2026, published in the Official Gazette, and extends to both contributory and non-contributory benefits managed by the National Social Security Administration (Anses).

The reinforcement is non-remunerative, meaning it will not be subject to deductions and will not be counted towards any other benefit calculations. According to the official decree, the bonus is intended to offset the negative effects that the previous retirement mobility formula had on the incomes of the most vulnerable citizens. The benefit applies to holders of contributory retirements and pensions under Law 24.241, as well as other national, special, or transferred regimes. It also includes recipients of the Universal Pension for the Elderly (PUAM) and non-contributory pensions for old age, disability, mothers of seven or more children, and other compassionate pensions administered by Anses.

The maximum bonus amount is $70,000. Retirees and pensioners receiving an income equal to or less than the guaranteed minimum benefit will receive the full bonus. Those with higher incomes will receive a proportional amount, calculated to ensure their total income, including the bonus, does not exceed the minimum benefit plus the $70,000 maximum. The decree specifies that for pensions with co-beneficiaries, the bonus will be treated as a single payment, not multiplied by the number of individuals receiving the pension. This initiative, signed by President Javier Milei, Chief of Staff Diego Santilli, and Minister of Human Capital Sandra Pettovello, takes effect immediately upon its publication.
