Governor Lawal receives Outstanding Governor award at Daily Times centenary celebration

Zamfara State Governor Dauda Lawal received the Daily Times Outstanding Governor Award for the North-West at a centenary celebration in Abuja.

The honor came during the DTN@100 Times Heroes Awards, organized to mark 100 years of publication by Daily Times Nigeria. Organizers cited Lawal’s leadership, public service and contribution to national development.

Bolaji Okusaga, chairman of the awards council, said Lawal received the highest number of nominations and public votes in the category. “Following an extensive nomination and public voting process, you received the highest number of votes in this award category,” Okusaga said. The council and other stakeholders then confirmed his selection.

Lawal thanked the newspaper’s board, management and organizing committee, the Times Heroes Award Council and Nigerians who supported his nomination. He said the recognition reflected his commitment to good governance and efficient public service in Zamfara.

Other honorees included Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume and former African Development Bank President Akinwumi Adesina. Daily Times said the recipients would be included among the notable personalities and institutions featured in the 700-page Nigerian Grand Book, a commemorative volume documenting people and achievements linked to Nigeria’s development. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu wrote the foreword.
