Govt invited me, showed SC order: CJP's Saurav Das says no written guarantee on dropping students' FIRs yet

The Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) stated Tuesday that the government has failed to provide written assurance that all First Information Reports (FIRs) against students and protesters will be withdrawn, and no future action will be taken against them. A deadline for this assurance was set for Tuesday, with only hours remaining and no written confirmation received from the central government.

CJP chief spokesperson Saurav Das reported meeting with government representatives Tuesday evening at their invitation. During the meeting, Das said officials presented a Supreme Court order, specifically Direction No. 4, which permits investigations into existing FIRs. The government's argument, Das explained, was that since the Supreme Court's directive is a written order, the matter is now "sub judice." When asked directly if a written guarantee would be provided, Das stated there was no response.

Das conveyed that the government had previously guaranteed the CJP that the withdrawal of FIRs and the promise of no future action would extend beyond Delhi to any state governed by the BJP or NDA. However, with the government's lack of response, the CJP spokesperson warned of a "massive betrayal of the country's youth." He reiterated that the movement would not accept any decision that violates the government's assurances and urged them to "keep your word regarding any future decisions taken in the interest of students."

If the government fails to uphold its promises, the CJP plans to announce "another massive protest" in Delhi and other states. Das emphasized the CJP's commitment to acting in the best interest of students and warned that the Supreme Court should not be "politicized" for the government's benefit or used to target protesters. The CJP previously found the Supreme Court's interim order allowing continued investigation into FIRs registered during nationwide student protests unacceptable.
