GPS leads driver onto narrow bridge in Bavarian Alps, car gets stuck

A 78-year-old driver found himself in a precarious situation in the Bavarian Alps after his navigation system guided him onto a hiking path. The car became wedged on a bridge too narrow for its passage, leaving the driver stranded.

After being unable to free the vehicle himself, the driver sought help from a hiker, who then contacted a local farmer. When these attempts proved unsuccessful, emergency services were called. Firefighters from Krün, along with community representatives and a towing service, were mobilized for a complex operation that lasted approximately four hours to extricate the car from the bridge.

The driver had intended to reach an alpine pasture via forest roads, relying on his GPS. Despite the path becoming increasingly narrow and eventually turning into a pedestrian trail, he continued until the inadequate bridge halted his journey. Authorities have initiated proceedings against the driver for his unauthorized travel on the path.
